error on oobefldr.dll

    Question

  • Hello,

everytime when I logon to our new 2008 server I get an error on oobefldr.dll stating that the module could not be found.

    > rundll
    > error loading oobefldr.dll
    > the specified module could not be found

it does not seem to make a big difference in the functionality of the server but it bothers me a lot seeing an error every time I login.
there is no difference in logging on the console or from terminal services.

I checked out other discussion on this subject but they does not cover the problem all the way.
the machine is a Dell pe1950
the only 3rd party software on the machine is Dell server administrator and Trend Micro anti virus.

    regards

  • Hello,

The file oobefldr.dll is related to Welcome Center out of the box experience.(oobe)

If you would like to disable Welcome Center, you can try the following method:

    1. Click Start, type Regedit and press Enter.

    2. Navigate through HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

    3. Right click on WindowsWelcomeCenter and select Delete.

Restart the computer and test the result.

    Thanks
