How to setup software RAID 10 on Windows Server 2008 Standard

    Question

  • How can you do a software RAID 10? I have 4 HDD and I already did RAID 1 (created 2 mirrored sets).  Now I need to RAID 0 the mirrored sets.  I am using windows server 2008 standard software raid

  • RAID 10 is not available as a software RAID level. To be honest you really should be using hardware instead anyways. 

    Software RAID levels available are 0, 1 and 5.

  • Yea, I am stuck with a software RAID for now. No way to get hardware RAID setup in the meantime.. I guess I will just stick with a RAID 1 Thanks

  • you could create a striped set (raid 0), then mirror it (raid 1). now you have raid 10. you could research more on that.

  • Like stated above this is not possible. It is not possible to combine two RAID1 and setup a striping on top of that with Windows Server 2008. Likewise it is not possible to combine to striped sets in a single RAID 1 drive. 

    The options are not available. Btw software RAID is a fiable option lest you are not going to run huge databases on it. look at this
