ADMT 3.2 access is denied

    Question

  • Hi,

We are migrating from one forest b.com to another forest ab.com, we need to migrate users and passwords and machines, but when we trying to connect to the source domain b.com we cannot see any DC, we put thetarget domain ab.com and we can see the DC to work, we click the button next and we receive the message:

The domain a.com domain a cannot be contacted. Access is denied

We have federation trustship relations between the two forest and we have two way trustship relations

What do you mean by “federation trustship relations”?

Configure the ADMT permission according to this blog - http://portal.sivarajan.com/2010/04/admt-service-account-permission-and.html

  • My client has a forest infrastrucutre and they want to migrate to a new forest infrastructure, they want to keep all their users accounts, machine accounts, security grous, SID history, etc. To do that tehy installed a new forest infrastructure and put them two AD domins (one the forest root domain and the other a child domain). They stablished a federation trustship between the two forest root domains, this federation trustship is a forest level.

We want to use the ADMT 3.2 to migrate users and computers account, but when we try to connecto to the source domain we receive the message "The domain a.com domain a cannot be contacted. Access is denied" and we cant continue with migration

We follow all the steps detailed in the documentation of the product.

  • You didn’t really answer my question about permission configuration? Did you configure the permission based on about blog?

Also, here is a high level ADMT migration flowchart for your reference – www.sivarajan.com/admt.html

What do you mean by “connect to source domain” ?  Are you getting this error message inside ADMT?

Can you access the source domain from target domain?  Do you have proper name resolution between 2 domains?

Please post the ADMT log file here.
