How may Junction Points can I have on a volume?

    Question

  • I am running 2008r2 and have an application that provides users with there Archive data and there current data. I want to move all there Archive data to another volume as it is a large amount of tiny files. The application does not have the abilty to point the archive to a second drive so I figured I can do it with a Junction. The process worked fine and I was able to move the users data and point to it with the application never knowing the difference. Now I need to do this more then 3,000 more times.

Is there a point where MS does not let you add more? They will all be on the same volume but most likey no more then 4 or 5 per sub-directory.
