Any tools to monitor the DFSR replication progress

    Question

  • Hello experts,

Any tools to monitor the DFSR replication progress ?  are there any logs to let us know it's replicated completed or any conflicts?

Because I meet the problem below:

    1.       Lack of visibility. Currently we have no indication of when a build has been fully replicated and we have no idea of knowing how long is left of a current replication. Moving forward, I would say that this is a requirement from us to be able to see somehow how far the transfer of a build has gone.

    2.       Slow transfer rate. We are currently seeing several hours transfers of builds about 3 to 4 Gb size which  is very damaging to us when trying to work with different time zones

    3.       Inconsistencies in replication. We constantly see 3 files missing from each build and we are not exactly sure why these files are not being replicated. By pure luck the files has been non critical files so we could do without them but it’s a bit scary to have a system that seems to leave out a couple of files seemingly at random.

    Appreciate any suggestions.

  • Hello,

At last , I plan to monitor the DFSR progress by the tools below:

    1.Security Events.

Enable applicaiton generating audit in advance audit from group policy. then events will be generated in Security Events when the files are replicated or not.

Note: DFSR Does Not Replicate Temporary Files.

2.DFS Replication Events when the problem happened.

    3.DFSR SCOM MP Monitoring.

    4.DFSR diagnostic health report

  • Hello,

I can find "DFS Replication" but not "File Replication Service".

Do you have any further suggestions?

  • Lester, you might also try looking at this thread:

Caleb_S mentioned several ways he came across for doing DFS-R monitoring w/o using the add-on for MOM, including the very useful real-time monitoring tool DFSRMon v1.1.0.
