MSiSCSI Error Event ID: 121, 103, & 108

    Question

  • I'm getting the following erros:

    Event ID: 108

Status 0x00001069 determining that device interface \\?\{8e7bd593-6e6c-4c52-86a6-77175494dd8e}#MsVhdHba#1&3030e83&0&01#{2accfe60-c130-11d2-b082-00a0c91efb8b} does not support iSCSI WMI interfaces. If this device is not an iSCSI HBA then this error can be ignored

Event ID: 121 (Note: I don't use iSNS)

The firewall exception to allow Internet Storage Name Server (iSNS) client functionality is not enabled. iSNS client functionality is not available

    Event ID: 103

Timeout waiting for iSCSI persistently bound volumes. If there are any services or applications that use information stored on these volumes then they may not start or may report errors.

    I ran the following commands:

netsh advfirewall firewall set rule "iSCSI Service (TCP-Out)" new enable=yes

    response was: 1 updated

    and

netsh advfirewall firewall set rule "iSNS Server (TCP Out)" new enable=yes

response was: No rules match the specified criteria.

Oh - I forgot to mention that I'm also getting Event ID: 9:

Unexpected provider failure. Restarting the service may fix the problem. Error code: 80004005@02000014

  • Hi,

It seems that there are some issue between the server and the iSCSI storage device. If so, please provide the details about the connection between the server and the iSCSI storage device.

    Best Regards,

    Vincent Hu

  • Here is my setup:

2 Node Cluster running Windows 2008 R2 SP1.  Each Node has 2-2 port HBA iSCSI Initiator cards in them.  These cards are used to connect to my Equallogic PS6000vx SAN.  I use these cards to boot my nodes.  I use boot from SAN.    So each node has 4 connections to the SAN.  The SAN and these 8 connections are on a separate switch than my VMs.   I have 12 VMs and they have separate NICs that are connect to our LAN switches.

If you need more information let me know.

  • When I get this error how can I tell what device or volume this is referring to?  I've looked under iSCSI devices and volume and I don't see it.

  • did you get any problems with your computers?

You may ignore this message as it mentioned " If this device is not an iSCSI HBA then this error can be ignored"

  • How do I get rid of this entry?  I don't use iSNS servers.
