Manually push an update

    Question

  • Hi guys...

I need to know how can i install Internet Explorer 8 on 30 desktop computers using WSUS.

The issue is that i can't find the install package in WSUS so i thought to download it manually from Microsoft and the "import" it to WSUS in order to push it.

    I can't find a way to do this :(

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Greetings.

    Francisco.

Possibly you don't have it. Are you synchronizing the update classification "Update Rollups"?

It's also possible that since it's not titled like IE7 and IE9, you're just looking for the wrong title.

Try Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP

  • Hi Lawrence.

I've looked into the Classifications tab and the Update Rollups is on.

I've searched using exactly what you said and there is no match :(.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks!!

    Francisco.

Have you also searched with both filter options:

    • Approval = "Any Except Declined"
    • Approval = "Declined"

If it's still not there, then Import the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

  • Hi Lawrence :)

I've searched again and the only pending update is KB955839.

I've searched in the import URL and there is nothing :( :(

    Thanks!

    Francisco.

What does pending updates have to do with anything? What exactly are the filter criteria set on your update view, and which update view are you using to search?

    Try searching on 'KB944036'

I've searched in the import URL and there is nothing :( :(

I didn't have any problems finding it:

  • Hi

Apparently WSUS needed time to download the updates. Now IE 8 is showing in the unapproved updates in the Updates Rollups.

    Thanks for the help.
