Server 2008 network access problem

    Question

  • in Windows Server 2008 how do I turn off the firewall without disrupting network users or losing internet connectivity. Should I ask network users to logout before installing new programs such as SQL 2008R2 or Office 2010?

  • Hello,

the firewall can be disabled form admins or with GPO settings configured for required ports.

What is your actual problems users have with the firewall?

Installation from new software should not be doe if users are working on the machine. But why are users direct on a SQL server?
