Mac 10.8.3 slow in searching Active Directory when joining Window server 2003 R2

    Question

  • We have two new Mac with Mac OS 10.8.3 and try to join domain and Server version is Window server 2003 R2. However, we find that it is requiring serveral miniutes to serach the domain accounts (around 2 to 5 miniutes) before able to login. We have tried to join another server ( Window server 2008) and it is still the same problem. We have checked the Mac and servers, and they have downloaded the latest update.

  • Try opening directory utility, go to Search policy, and from there drag the active directory binding to the top of the list. This will make it search AD before it searches the OD, presuming you have it attached to your mac servers aswell for policy control. Also do what the others have said and check your dns is all set correctly.
