License Server Redundancy Setup

    Question

  • We are setting up a redudant license server on our network. From what I read, we should just be able to setup another license server, activate it, DON’T install licenses on it, and if we need to use it, it should hand out 90 licenses. We just need to confirm this. Thanks.

  • Hello,

This indeed is an option. To allow the backup server to hand out certificates you will need to install/move the licenses from the old to the new server. You can use the Microsoft Clearing House when coming to this.........

  • Hi,

Agree with Robert. In addition, if you want full High Availability (HA) for your RD licensing you can also devide your licenses over two (or more) license servers and configure the RDSH Servers to point to them directly. The RDSH will go to the 2nd license server if the 1st license server doesn't have licenses. This is because since 2008 RDSH servers don't support auto discover of RD License Servers anymore.
