Change Windows 7 theme

    Question

  • How to change inbuilt theme in Windows 7 without showing any UI to the user. when i run the theme from the folder, the "Personalization" window gets opened.

    check this one on a local machine first:

    To prepare Windows 7 with a background picture other then the default used before logon you have to do the following:

    - create in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background a 32bit REG_DWORD named OEMBackground, if not exist, and set the Value data to 1, default is 0

    - in C:\Windows\System32\oobe create additional folders Info and inside Backgrounds, so that C:\Windows\System32\oobe\Info\Backgrounds exist and copy here your .jpg file which should be shown. It MUST be named backgrounddefault.jpg

    - now logoff and you can see the new choosen picture as background

    If it works for you implement this with GPO.
