Can subordinate CA create Certificate Template?

Answers

  • Templates are stored in Active Directory so you can create them from any domain joined computer with sufficient rights using Certificate Templates Management Console (certtmpl.msc).

  • Hi,

Agree with Martin that you can use other domain joined computer to create certificate templates. To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Domain Admins group or the Enterprise Admins group in Active Directory, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

For example, the Certificate Templates MMC console can be run from a Windows XP Professional computer with the Windows Server 2003 Administration Pack (Adminpak.msi) installed. With sufficient rights, you can create certificate template.

    Regards,

    Bruce
