2012 RD Web Access

    Question

  • I have Published a few Apps for a 2012 Session based Collection via RD Web Access, but cant find out how i publish a remote desktop connection to the Session so if people want they can get a full remote desktop from the "Work Resources" RD Web App Page.

If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great !

    Thanks Gordon.

  • Hi Gordon,

The Session Collection (that currently holds your Remote Apps) is of a type "Remote App Programs" which means you can only publish Remote Apps. If you want to publish a full desktop you need to change the type of your Session Collection to "Remote Desktop". However, this would mean you would have to unpublish all the Remote Apps of this Session Collection. This is because mixing both is not supported in a single Session Collection. Another solution would be to create a 2nd Session Collection of type "Remote Desktop" within the same deployment, however note that this would also require additional RD Session Host Servers since a RD Session Host server can only be a member of 1 Session Collection. There is a (unsupported) workaround however to allow to mixing the two in 1 Session Collection, and that is by modifying the registry key into:

    HKLM\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Terminal Server\ CentralPublishedResources\ PublishedFarms\ <collection name>\ RemoteDesktops\ <collection name>

    ShowInPortal     REG_DWORD     0x00000001

Do note however that this is officially not a supported option.
