How can i make single dns name for - http://192.168.1.89:9675/portal/

    The users can simply type http://helpdesk and You can configure the webserver to redirect to hostname:9675/portal/.

  • In DNS you create a record called "helpdesk" that points to 192.168.1.89.  Then, on that web server, create a website that listens on port 80.  That website only has one function, which is to redirect to this URL: http://helpdesk:9675/portal/.  You do not need any web pages in that web site.  You can handle the redirection within the IIS configuration (or whatever other web server application you are running).

  • DNS is not designed for mapping a URL to an IP address.  You can create a host name in a DNS zone and map it to 192.168.1.89.  What you could do is if this target IP is a web server, create a website that listens on port 80 and simply redirects the user to hostname:9675/portal/
