Testing SMTP on Server 2008 R2

    Question

  • Hello. I have installed Windows Server 2008 R2 and I have configured my SMTP server with these settings:

IIS 6.0 Manager - SMTP Virtual Server

    • IP address: 192.168.2.150 (private IP of my server)
    • Access control: Basic authentication
    • Connection control / Relay restrictions: Allow only 192.168.2.150
    • Delivery - Outbound security: filled my username and password. No TLS encryption.

    IIS Manager - SMTP E-mail

    • E-mail address: info@greenweaving.com
    • Deliver e-mail to SMTP server: use localhost. Port 25. Specify credentials (my username and password)

    LOG FILE of today

#Software: Microsoft Internet Information Services 7.5

    #Version: 1.0

    #Date: 2010-05-14 15:22:20

    #Fields: time c-ip cs-method cs-uri-stem sc-status

    15:22:20 64.74.98.139 EHLO - 250

    15:22:20 64.74.98.139 MAIL - 530

    15:22:26 64.74.98.139 QUIT - 240

I try to send e-mails using two web applications I have on my server (PROJECT.net and MANTIS Bug Tracker) but I never receive them, and I think is a problem of my SMTP settings.

Are these settings correct? How can I test if it is working properly using Telnet (I only know how to do it with anonymous access)? THANK YOU
