How to Create a GPO for WIN 7 to Show "File Extensions"?

    Question

  • Hello,

I would like to have a GPO that will by default show "File Extension" of all files on the Windows 7 system. I know how to do it manually but hoping there is a GPO that can be turned on.

    Thanks in advance...

  • Hi,

You can use group policy preferences to configure this setting. Create a new GPO and navigate to 'User Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Folder Options'. Right click and create a new Folder Options for Windows Vista or later and you'll see the checkbox you're looking for.

    Thanks,
