Windows 7 64 bit and Volume Shadow Copy Client correctly don't work

    Question

  • Windows 7 64 bit and Volume Shadow Copy Client correctly don’t work

In my Event Viewer I got the following combination of errors:  Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error calling a routine on the Shadow Copy Provider… and  The firewall exception to allow Internet Storage Name Server (iSNS) client functionality is not enabled. iSNS client functionality is not available.

After reading the numerous postings on this subject and several schemes on how to make the VSS and MSiSCSI work, the basic question as to why this services should work remain unanswered.  I am running Windows 7 (64) Ultimate on my computer.  I did not install Windows Server (2003, 2008,) on my computer nor any application (knowingly) that that depends on VSS and MSiSCSI.

Knowing something about the functionality of the two services it did become apparent that some application or process did make my computer a Client to Windows Server 2003 (or other version) without my consent.

Review of Kaspersky Firewall Settings reviled that I had two applications having unrestricted access through the firewall:

    ATTO\Bench32.exe

    Apache http Server

Blocking the two above applications eliminated the errors from my computer.

Undauntedly there are other programs, application, and processes that award silently to them self privileges without the administrator consent.

Please if you know about this behavior list the application.
