Error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start

    Question

  • Hi,

I´ve created a service in a windows server 2008 R2, but when I try to start the service :

Windows could not start the Test service on Local Computer

Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start

I´ve checked the service dependencies, and all services which appear in the dependencies tab are started.

So any idea why is failing?

    Thanks thaks thanks

  • Hi error 1068 the dependency sevice or group failed,

You have to check if the dependences are really running. Try to see if they are disabled. You can restart the sub-services. If you can't start the service try  to remove the dependencies with the command: sc config "servicename" depend= start=auto(not recommended)

  • Hi,

It seems that the service is created by yourself.

If so, this should be a software development issue, please submit a new question to MSDN forum for further assistance.

  • Hi,

Just check the health of DC by running DCDiag /v if everything looks fine, just ignore this event ID. For more info check the following.

    Event ID 1068
