Windows 7 X64 - GPResult only showing User Policy - Computer policy missing but is member of Domain

    Question

  • We have three of a different team in IT who have recently cut over to Windows 7 X64 running machines.

My team also run Windows 7 X64 however have not seen this issue. The only difference, the other team is in a different VLAN.

All their machines are connected to our domain without issues. Can see them on the DC and all information seems to be correct.

However the following is missing from the GPResult /r when it is run on their PC's

    COMPUTER SETTINGS
    ------------------
        CN=XXXXXXXXX,OU=XXXXXXXX,OU=XXXXX,OU=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX,DC=XXXX,DC=XXXXXXXX
Last time Group Policy was applied: 30/03/2011 at 10:15:58 AM
Group Policy was applied from:      XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Group Policy slow link threshold:   500 kbps
        Domain Name:                        ACD
        Domain Type:                        Windows 2000

        Applied Group Policy Objects
        -----------------------------
            WorkstationsGP
            Default Domain Policy
            Local Group Policy

The issue at first was with a single PC, however this has now spread to two more?

The initial system that was affected we tried dropping it from the domain and then reconnecting it. Didn't work.

Also have checked event log to see what maybe occurring there also. Can see SceCli records showing "Security policy in the Group policy objects has been applied successfully." still even now that this has occurred?

Anyone have any ideas as to why this maybe occurring to just this one team?

  • You can try to run Group Policy Results on the computer from your DC. This should give you som indication on the issue.
