File Server Resource Manager and Configure file management tasks

    Question

  • On technet i have found this: Continuous file management tasks   Configure file management tasks to run a few seconds after files are created or modified on a file server when classification properties are defined as a condition in the file management task.

I have try but it doesn't work. Schedule is working but not continuous.

A Note say: You cannot configure the file management tasks to be continuous if you have configured a notification or if a fixed schedule is assigned.

So i have try to disable schedule in the GUI but its impossible.

The only way is to use powershell : Set-FsrmClassification -Continuous

But new file created are not classified.

    Is it a bug ?

  • I was able to repro this.  manual execution of the rule classifies the files, real time does not.

It appears near real-time classificationfeature does not work for files on the C: drive.

If you create another logical volume and host your data there, the real time classifier works as expected.

I will follow up with the product group on this.

    Thanks for the post.

  • Hi,

I just tested this using the folder classifier and continuous (a few seconds delay) classification worked for me.

Please return the output of get-fsrmclassificationrule and get-fsrmclassification.

  • What's the exact settings? I would like to have a try to reproduce your issue if available.

I tried to set "days since file was created" or "days since file was last modified" but get this error:

"The run continuous tasks option cannot be selected. Notifications must not be specified and no date conditions may be specified whether absolute or relative. "
