Windows Server 2008 R2 (not sp1), how clean the winsxs directory?

    Question

  • Following this useful article below I didn't succeed in executing the command DISM.exe
    http://www.happysysadm.com/2011/06/clean-up-winsxs-on-windows-2008-r2.html

    The result I had:
    C:\Windows\system32>DISM /online /Cleanup-Image /SpSuperseded

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
    Version: 6.1.7600.16385

    Image Version: 6.1.7600.16385

    Error: 87

The spsuperseded option is not recognized in this context.
For more information, refer to the help.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

How can I execute it without any SP installed? Is there an alternative method to clean this directory?

    Thanks in advance!
