We had to change an IP address on a server 2K8 R2 box, but the DNS was not holding the new IP assigned to it but was revering back to the old IP. It would hold it until the TTL changed in DNS. This is only happening to the Server 2K8 boxes. Our only solution so far was to rename the box with the new IP address.
Is anyone else having this issue with server 2K8? It's not happinging on the 2K3 boxes. If so, did you find a resolution?
to understand you correct, if you change the ip address of a Windows server 2008 R2 on the NIC and not with DHCP it will be accepted. If you now check in the DNS management console the ip address is listed correct and then changes back to the previous one?
Did you run ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns after the change, and if it is a DC also restart the netlogon service?
Did you control on the server record properties, security tab, that the server has permissions to write to the record?Best regards
