Clients stuck in Deployment Pending

Hi,
I'm attempting to push the FEP client out, but it seems that the server is stuck at "Deployment Pending" and nothing else is happening. I set up a server share as a distribution point, perhaps this isn't working correctly?
Thanks,
-Jesse

Have you rebooted the clients yet?
Cheers

Ok, follow the log file troubleshooting in the other thread link I provided and then report back...Jason Jones | Forefront MVP | Silversands Ltd | My Blogs: http://blog.msedge.org.uk and http://blog.msfirewall.org.uk

Hi Jason,
I seem to not have the EppSetup.log on the client system. C:\ProgramData\Microsoft doesn't even seem to have a Forefront directory. (Windows 7). Am I looking in the wrong place? I do see some of ServerSetup_xxx_xxx.logs and what not on the server side though.
Thanks,
Jesse

Hi Jesse,
Thank you for the post.
The EppSetup.log locates in folder %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Microsoft Security Client\Support.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff823784.aspxIf you do not find EppSetup.log file, please perform steps below to troubleshooting:
1. Ensure your FEP deployment advertisement set to "Download content from distribution point and run locally".
http://blogs.technet.com/b/clientsecurity/archive/2011/01/12/how-to-advertise-the-fep-client-to-install-from-a-distribution-point.aspx
2. Rerun the FEP FEP deployment advertisement or create a reinstall advertisment
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412473.aspx
3. Check the sccm Execmgr.log content on your client

Jesse,
Maybe try removing the server share distribution point. I've seen where this can be a problem, and having FEP come straight from your SCCM server worked.

Hi Rick,
I gave all that a try, and the client doesn't seem to push. There is no Microsoft Security Client folder in the Program Data\Microsoft folder. This was after creating a new advertisement, and attempting to push it out again. Any reason why this would be having trouble pushing out?
I wonder, could I use a manual install of the client (via the CD) but somehow manually transfer the policy created on the server machine?
Thanks,
Jesse

Please check the FEP deployment advertisement status log in SCCM console, Execmgr.log and firewall settings on client, or ask it to SCCM forum.

Yes, you could deploy FEP policy via Group policy but that means you deploy FEP without SCCM which has no FEP centralize management and no FEP reports/alerts.Regards

check the sccm server, under computer managment, software distribution, packages, --> The FEP package (Microsoft Corporation FEP - Deployment 1.0), click on package status make sure that it shows up as installed on the DP, if so note the package ID. go on the client CCM folder and find the cache folder and check if you can find that package id there. if not then ur client never got the package so u missing something on the sccm side of the config for the fep. take a look at the datatrasferservice.log and cas.log for any errors.

2012年5月4日 21:12I think you found my problem. Under Package Status, it shows FEP as Install Failed at the DP. What can I do to fix this?

right click on that and click show all messages. select the time whenever you were trying to distribute that package and see what the messages say. also youcan look for the distrmgr.log and distrmgr.lo_ on the server and se if you have any errors there.
Cheers,
Tomek

Hi Jesse,
Please try to remove and add DP from your FEP deployment package and update your DP.
Have you installed IIS and WebDav on your site/DP server?http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc431377.aspx
