We are in need of using sharepoint but only to manage our (not yet created) dashboards and to modify our ssrs report menu.
What is the cheapest version of Sharepoint that we can get away with, just to create dashboards and modify our report menu?

The low cost SharePoint is SharePoint Foundation, however it is very limited and only good if you plan to develop part of the controls in the dashboard. If you plan to use enterprise services such as Excel, Visio or Forms services for your dashboard you'll need to go to Enterprise.
