Control Network Used for VM Cloning Process

I am curious on getting some guidance on controlling which networks are used by SCVMM for various operations. More specifically, I am currently interested in controlling which networks and network interfaces are used by SCVMM when cloning a machine.
If, for example, I have a 3 node cluster (server01, server02, and server03) controlled by an SCVMM server (scvmm01) and create a clone (VM2) of an existing machine (VM1), there is no control over which network is used for the VHD deployment (BITS over HTTPS). Also, it seems that if I create the clone to be deployed to the same host that the machine being cloned exists on - it still uses the network to deploy the file (communicating with itself)?
Any clarity into the process and any control that I can exercise over it would be greatly appreciated.
