    Hi,

i´m planning my new courses and workshops for scvmm2012.

Everything is up and running - but how can i get storage-pools working?

Not everyone cann afford a hp eva or an netapp.

Is there a way to simulate a pool or smi-s compliant storages.

Till now i´ve worked with iscsi - but this won´t run now for pools.

Is server2012 a way for that?

    Thanxs for some tips...

    Andy

Currently, you`ll need a storage solution that supports the SMI-S protocol and also has a provider integrated with VMM. I`m not sure, but I think I have heard about a NetApp solution for testing this, but you have to be a customer or part of a test program or so.

Best tip is to check with your vendor and see if they can assist you with this directly.

    Hi,

Don't suppose there is a list of Storage Solutions that have the SMI-S Protocol as I've spoken to Dell and my MD32000i and MD3000i and they didn'y understand what I was talking about and told me to wait till Windows 2012 comes out which it totally off the target.

Today, it is strictly the top tier that is offering this interface.  It iwl be interesting to see if and when it trickles down to the less expensive SANs or when the interface appears in Server 2012 - since it has its new storage server story...
