    Hi,

    We currently have an Windows Server 2008 R2 server set up with RDS Session Host. We wanted to test RemoteFX functionality.

    Installed SP1 Beta. The question is whether it is possible to install RemoteFX without installing RDS virtualization host role, as it is stated that RemoteFX is also for Session Host not only for virtual desktops. Will it be possible in SP1 RTM?

    We can't add Virtualization host role as it is a virtual server.

      Hi Peteris, RemoteFX only is available for Enterprise and Ultimate Edition =)

      If you have not any of these versions of Windows Server 2008 R2, you can also download the 90 day trial.

        We have Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.

        The question was if it is possible to install RemoteFX without installing RDS Virtualization Host role service.

        My goal is to install RDS Session Host and RemoteFX, and Remote FX appears in the server manager. But when I select RemoteFX it says that Virtualization host is necessary to install RemoteFX.

          Hi,

          After install SP1 Beta look like RemoteFX is for Hyper-V to replace the VM Graphic Display Driver.

          I am looking for able to install the RemoteFX as a feature for RDS Session Host, but look like cannot.

          Will the RemoteFX be able to install for RDS Session Host as a feature ? When SP1 RTM, hope it can !

            You can use RemoteFX with RDSH. Please refer to the following Technet document
