    A colleague using Win 7 64-bit had imported a certificate into "Trusted People" store when playing with an Outlook add-in. After he was done playing with the add-in, he wanted to remove the certificate from his machine but could not locate the certificate in Internet Options->Content->Certificates as there was no tab for "Trusted People" there.

    He asked for my help, and I was able to locate the certificate by going to:
    certmgr.msc -> Trusted People -> Certificates

    There I right-clicked the certificate and clicked "Delete". The certificate was gone.

    I just wanted to confirm here if this was sufficient to ensure that the certificate was removed permanently and there was no trace left of the certificate anywhere in the system (or do I need to do anything else to ensure permanent removal of the certificate).

    I always think tomorrow will have more time than today. And every today seems to pass-by faster than yesterday.

    Outlook is not a Windows 7 feature.  It is pat of Microsoft Office which has its own support structure.

    Please go to http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us to post question about MS Outlook.

    You can select the version of MS Outlook @ http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum

    Hi Rick, is the question related to Outlook? To me, it appears to be strictly a Win 7 related question. Outlook was mentioned just to provide some background to the issue being discussed.

    I think importing a certificate into one of Windows built-in certificate stores and then removing it relates to Win 7 and not outlook, right?

    I guess I misread your post.  If you delete the certificate in the certmgr.msc, then you have to trust Microsoft that all traces of it are gone.

    Well yes, I do believe MS :), just ensuring there's nothing left behind that I am not aware of (you can imagine the importance of removing test certificates)...
