    I recently built a computer.

For some reason my internet is SO up and down. It ranges from 1 mbps to 54 mbps in a matter of seconds.
It sometimes goes up to 54 and stays there until I turn on google chrome, it goes down to 36 mbps.
I turn on another internet related program and it goes down to 1mbps.
My 3 other laptops are stable at 54 mbps activity regardless of what I do, how many programs I run.

I used my old netgear usb wireless on my old desktop and it's working perfectly. When I try the same wireless usb on my built desktop, I have the same problem, ridiciulous speed fluctuations.

I thought that old my wireless adapter (Netgear) was the problem so I bought a new one.

It's a rosewill wireless  RNX-G100 USB adapter. I have the same problem.
It can't be the range or distance away from the router because my laptop is right next to the built desktop and it runs fine.

I installed all the drivers for the motherboard, wireless usb adapter, gtx260..

I tried 32 bit and I had the same problem. Upgraded to 64 and it's just as bad, if not worse

    Here are specs of comp:

    -gtx 260
    -GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P Motherboard
    -Seagate 500GB 7200 RPM
    -CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX
    -Kingston HyperX T1 Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
    -G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
    -AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz
    -Antec900

I have no firewall up and no antivirus detection program.

    ipconfig:

Wireless LAN adapter wireless network connection:

    connection-specific DNS Suffix :
    Link Local IPv6 address: fe80::c8e3:910d:61bd:ec7d%13
    IPv4 Addres: 192.168.1.9
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 ˆ

    Please help~

You can try disabling IPv6 and see if that helps.

Did Windows install the driver for you? If so, can you try the driver on the manufacturer's website?

Make sure your wireless USB adapter is configured to connect to the same channel of your wireless router.

Usually this problem in wireless happed due two reasons:

    1.) Channel interference.

2.) Incompatibility of wireless card and wireless router.

Note:  I highly recommend you to always buy same brand of all your wireless network appliances to meet all the necessary compatibilities.

Have you tried using a wired connection between the new PC and your router?
If that cures the problem, at least you know it's the WiFi.
If not, you may be suffering from the same problem I had - network autotuning incompatibility with the router.
In my case, upgrading the router firmware (Linksys WAG200G, upgrade to 1.01.09) seems to have done the trick.
Before the router upgrade, I literally could not connect to Live Messenger.  Turning off autotuning worked as a stopgap, so perhaps you want to try that too.
