Avoid security conformation when startin a program.
- I have installed Total commander. (file manage program)
I rightclicked the icon..choosed properties and then checked the checkbox, run as administrator.
Everything was ok for i while, I started the application..no popup, could del files..move etc no popup.
Suddenly one day i needed to confirm opening the program. It said
Do you want to allow the following program to make changes on your computer?
File orogin: harddrive on this computer.

this was also needen for codegear Delphi 2009.
I can still delete files..move etc without popup....but only when I start the program it asks this all the time.
If i go under control panel and choose user account settings...and choose never notify, then it does not notify. But I do not want to have it never notify for other programs, soo i keep it as recommended.
If I uncheck the "run as administrator"..it does not notify anymore, but then it always do that when I move, del or something else with my files.
First days it did not notify at all...not when started and not when manipulating files.
How to come back as it worked from the beginning?
I will also say that it stopped asking me for password when starting windows ( i do not have one thought...but in the beginning it still asked). i just klicked login before without typing any password. Could it be something with user accounts? It still say that I have logged in with my name..
Anybody.
Besides that I REALLY like windows 7. I have used Vista on other machines ..but NEVER installed it on any of my computers..i did not liked it...but windows7...i surelly will on ALL of my computers.

Ah. That is a UAC (User Account Control) popup. UAC will come up with those popups if the program will make some "serious" changes to your computer. (Like my defrag and junk file cleaner programs come up with UAC prompts). The default setting is to dim the desktop and come up with the prompt.
Do you want to allow the following program to make changes on your computer?
File orogin: harddrive on this computer.

Sounds like in your case it wasn't dimming the desktop but still coming up with the prompt (and I assume you haven't changed any UAC settings).
You can turn UAC off and it shouldn't bother you anymore but if you are a standard user you woudln't be able to do adminstrator privilege stuff (like copy files to the root of a drive).

- Just like Spybot Search&Destroy Tea Timer, that is a security feature for your protection. It sometimes pops up under other windows and you only notice it by mousing over the task bar.
I have noticed that Win7 is sometimes changing my security settings on me without notification as to just what it did. I chalk it up to the remote access that Microsoft maintains deviously called "CHECKING FOR SOLUTIONS ON LINE"
I get so frustrated when I forget to right click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR and my photo editor will not save to my private account documents.
What is up with all the documents folders and libraries with limited access. I never remember where I saved anything any more! What is up with all the documents folders and libraries with limited access.
Yeah, why do I get a UAC message "You'll need to provide administrator priviliges to copy here" whenever I copy to the root of drives? I do this type of operation frequently when sharing files between my OSes. Drives me nuts!!
