    Hi.

Newbie.  What is the difference between Microsoft Discussion Groups, Newsgroups, and Forum?

    Thanks in advance

I'll suggest this as an answer:
-Microsoft Discussion Groups: You may use a web browser to view the the NNTP based groups.
-Newsgroups: These are NNTP based groups.  Typically viewed with an NNTP news reader, but some have web interfaces also.
-Forum: A web based discussion group.  Similar to the others, except these are typically viewed with a web browser.  There is some work going on by Microsoft to create a standalone application that can access forums.  Helpful for offline viewing.

Marco - please fix where folks can post new questions on PS here. We get stuck with a category choice that does not include this forum. Other MSDN forums do not even force a catagory choice. Perhaps this forum needs to be in a masterlist. Lord knows we NEED this forum!!! Can you please fix? Thanks, Dave
