    I am looking to deploy updates using the WSUS3.0SP1 application. I have signed up to, and downloaded, all the relevant clasifications and products. I have changed the registry settings on a few clients and have monitored them whilst they apply the latest patches and updates. All updates seem to download correctly and the clients appear to update and report correctly back to the WSUS server in the WSUS console. All appears fine until I look in the WindowsUpdate.log on the clients and see the following line

    2009-07-02 13:08:34:343 1092 1604 Agent WARNING: Failed to evaluate Installed rule, updateId = {A901C1BD-989C-45C6-8DA0-8DDE8DBB69E0}.103, hr = 8024E001

    In the SoftwareDistribution.Log on the WSUS server this id number is also located in the following line.

    I have checked this updateid number and if you cross reference it with the "Products and classifications" that I have selected it appears to be connected with the "Windows Server 2003" product.

    Having been unable to find any information on the Internet, could someone tell me if I have a problem please. I figure if I ignore the message and assume everythings working fine I might be letting myself in for problems in the future.

    Jim, this is a known issue and is being researched/resolved by Microsoft. I'm working with them on this issue, as I encountered it on my own system(s) and on one client's system(s). The issue is benign, and you can safely ignore it for the time being.
