    Hi,

my monthly report for march 2007 in isa 2004 has no data in it.   The folder for the report is created as expected but there is no data in it. eg folder name is "Monthly Report_(dd.mm.200x-dd.mm.200x)".

There hasnt been any network changes or changes to any devices.

Things I have tried so far as a test to resolve the issue:

    1. ran a monthly report manually - unsuccessful

    2. ran march monthly report again - unsuccessful

    3. ran weekly and daily reports maunally - success

    4. checked folder security settings, accounts used to run reports - all ok.

    5. ran previous to march report again -  success

    6. checked status of sql db connection and reporting services - ok

    7. checked hard drive space. - sufficient.

A really descriptive error (not!) in a windows pop up appears when i try to view the march monthly report :

"ISA server error : The operation failed, error 0x80004005. unspecified error. "

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    cheers

    Richard

    Hello Richard,

    - have you checked the EventViewer for any additional info?

    - Try removing Monthly Report_(dd.mm.200x-dd.mm.200x) and re-run.

    - If manual (CUSTOM) reports are running as you mention, see if there is a specific day\period that is causing this failure. This might be a corruption of one of ISA's internal report data files and it would help to understand which one.

    - can you generate all 4 weeklies of MARCH?

    thx -avi

oops - you also should delete the SUMM200703.ils files as well, before re-running...

this holds the monthly summarized data for March.

    hope this helps, avi

    Hi Avi,

There were no events registered. After running 4 weekly's for March, the culprit seems to be 26/3/2007. If I generate reports either side of that date, I will get a report , but not for that day 26/3/2007. So I suspect that the log files/ db entry for that day is corrupt.

Is there any way of finding out why that would have happened? I did try to look at the log files but was not able to go any further.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    cheers

    Richard

    Hey Richard  -

ISA reporting summarizes each daily acitivity into ILS files - these are its data files. They can be found in the ISA installation directory\ISASummaries\*.ils.

You should find a file "SUMD20070326.ils" in each of the FW machines, which is probably the corrupted one. Try and deleting these (or rename) and re-run the monthly.

    Hi Avi,

renamed the summary log file and ran the monthly reports again and no luck still. I guessing i will need to address the files in the location \isalogs?

    regards

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

In addition to this question, our ISA 2006 encountered this error last week. First time. Then, today, 2nd time. Would the corrupted database is a normal instance of ISA reporting ?
Or is there something we can do to prevent this from happening.

    Regards,
