    Hi,

Short question. Are there any best practices regarding namning standards for site codes? We are currently in the process of setting up an SCCM hosting environment for multiple customers. One option is to go with XX1, XX2 and so on for every new site in a hierarchy. But is that the most flexible solution for a certain hierarchy?

Input from anyone else with the same experience would be interesting.

    Regards,
    Fredrik

Really depends on how many sites your going to have (pri/sec) and how many you anticipate having.  I use P01, P02, etc for Primaries and S01, S02, etc for Secondaries.  In the grand scheme of things it doesnt really matter as long as they are unique.  ;-)

Best practices? I don't think there are any :) But I'll tell you what my experience tells me: The next time I set up a new hierarchy I'll start with 001, 002... and keep on counting, and rather use the friendly name to identify the sites. The reason for this is simple. With this naming convention it's really easy to see if a site code is ok to use, and this is important since you should never reuse site codes.

It's funny to me that William said he uses P01 and S01 and so forth. I thought that was just something I did. I stopped use city codes etc because it's not practical since they can't be reused. I agree with William and I use the same as he does.

Thanks for your input! I understand that the number of sites that will be deployed will have effect on what name standard to use. I will do some thinking now and then decide what standard to follow.
