    Hi all,

i've a created a content managment site in SP2007 with versions enabled.i got few doubts in version size.

Whenever theres a modification in a document a new version is created,Here i want to kno how each version is stored.

Say a document has five versions,my doubt is that how sharepoint treat these versions......does it store five separate documents for each version or it stores has a single document and then differentiate usin some tech.

    Plz help me out.....

    TIA,

    Gladi8or

    Hello Gladi8or-

I am not sure if I can directly answer your question, but it is my understanding that if you keep, for example, 3 versions of a document in MOSS 2007 or WSS version 3, you are storing that document 3 times in the SQL DB ... effectively tripling the size needed for that document.  I cannot place any hard evidence behind this, so you will have to check that out for yourself.

Another helpful thing to do when you are implementing version control is by controlling the overall size of the specific site collection in MOSS 2007 or WSS 3.0.  Here is a helpful technet document that I have found.

    Hope that helps,
