When i run tcp view there are multiple processes for internet explorer 8 establised connections. Now what is strange is that if i open 1 ie8 browser window maybe 3 or 4 show up in tcpview with established connections. The thing is it only happens when i am online, so if i unplug from the net and open ie8 only the 1 shows up even when i plug the net back in.

When i open a new page after this heaps of ie8 processes show up. I am fully AV/firewall/spyware protected and have done a fresh install. Sometimes my pc feels sluggish when all these ie8 copies open up, and im running an I7 920 @ 3.8ghz + 3gb DDR3 ram.

Please help me find out if i am hacked.

Do a virus scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, it's free and catches viruses that Norton misses.

I have a friend who hates people using IE to view and submit pledges with his pledge page, as IE takes up 2 connections to his pledge server, whereas other browsers take up only 1 connection. He only has about 40 connections available at 1 time, so this is a big deal for him.

    My point:

You have caught on to one of IE's biggest quirks: It takes up more than 1 connection to the server, all the time.

Also I have found with newer (IE 7 and up) IE versions, when you open a new tab, another iexplore.exe process starts. this happens with the first 2 or 3 tabs opened.
