Delete files after ftp job based on input file

  Hello scripting guys,
  
  I am new to scripting and faced with a challenge. I want to get files from a ftp server, redirect the filenames to a text file and afterwards delete the files from the ftp server using the text file as input. All of this without using creating a file share first. I wanted to do this by using a command file but security restrictions prevent me from connecting to an ibm as400 directly. Any scripting language will do and any help is much appreciated.
