Unanswered Can't see powerpivot in Excel 2010 menu when restart excel

    Hi,

    I installed PowerPivot and tryied to add the powerpivot to menu by clicking go to the COM add-ins and mark the add-ins. When I close excel and restart it I need to add it again.

    Hi,

    1) Make sure your Excel Version is compatible with PowerPivot.

    2) If you still have problem, try the below steps which should give you error

    1) Open My Computer Properties
    2) Click on Advanced Tab
    3) Click on the Environmental Variable
    4) Click on New User Variable
    5) Add VSTO_SUPPRESSDISPLAYALERTS with value 0 press OK
    6) Repair PowerPivot For Excel from add/remove program
    7) Open Excel again, it will prompt an error message.

    Hi Harry,

    I have installed Powerpivot for Excel 32 bit, I have windows 7 running with Office 2010 14.0.4763.1000

    After following your instructions I am getting the following error

    Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A03EC

    I have also installed VSTO 10.0.31117, MS-VC++ redistributable 10.0.30319, MS-SQL 2008 R2 Express 10.50.1600.1, hoping that this error can be closed.

    Just now I tried double clicking on the file

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\AS Excel Client\10\Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Modeler.FieldList.vsto

    And getting the error

    Downloading file:///C:/Program Files/Microsoft Analysis Services/AS Excel Client/10/makefile.inc did not succeed

     

    Please help with a solution

    Hi,

    Go to File->Options->Add-ins and you will see "PowerPivot for Excel" in the "Disabled Application Add-ins".

    To re-enable it select "Disabled Items" from the Manage dropdown list and click Go button. Then a dialog will open allowing you to re-enable the PowerPivot add-in.

    Hi,

    Actually, PowerPivot will be automatically enabled after you downloading and installing it.

    If your excel not, you may try to enable this COM add-in by registry key.

    COM Add-ins used by Excel are registered in the following registry key

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins

    This key contains a subkey for each installed COM Add-in. The name of the subkey is the ProgID for the COM Add-in. The subkey for a COM Add-in also contains values that describe the COM Add-in's friendly name, description, and load behavior. The load behavior describes how the Add-in is loaded in Excel: loaded at startup, loaded at next startup only, loaded on demand, or not loaded.

    Note: Before you edit and update your registry, please backup it first.

    I'm seeing the same issue with a user here on Windows 7/Office 2010.  When attempting to enable the add-in, it reports a runtime error occurred when trying to load the add-in.  The error that was reported above: Downloading file:///C:/Program Files/Microsoft Analysis Services/AS Excel Client/10/makefile.inc did not succeed is occurring when trying to manually execute the .vsto.  Have tried removing and re-installing .NET Framework 3.5.1, PowerPivot, repaired Office 2010...nothing is working.  Next will be to try Office 2010 SP1 to see if it makes any difference.
