Set Content Approval status on blog list not same for item author and list viewer

I have a worklfow on a blog list that fires on new and edit.
It waits for Approval Status = Approved and then
sets the content approval status to Pending.
Reason for this is not all content approvers for the list may be the right approver for the item.
Anyways, funny thing happens. I as the content author see the Approval status as Pending. However, a list viewer sees the item as Approved. This totally defeats the purpose!
If i remove the workflow and use the standard Approve/Reject it works fine. But if I set the approval status to Pending through the workflow it does not stick for content viewers.
Versioning is not enabled on this list.
Any thoughts on this?

Hi ,
I can reproduce your issue .This is because when the users edit the documents ,it will create versions about the them even though you cannot get to these versions in browser .The default Advanced Setting of the Posts list have set only users who can approve items can see draft items .So these viewers cannot see the drafts ,they will only get access to the newest major version .
You can change it to Any user who can read items can see draft items .In this way ,the viewers can see the Approval Status as Pending .
