I've read about using custom master page for my sites, but I only have one minor change that I need to do.  Is there a my site dedicated master page already?  I basically just need to swap department, phone number, and job title around a bit, I don't want to create a brand new master page and all.  So if someone knows where the default is, please just tell me the path to it.

    Thanks in advance

Are you referring to the MySite or the My Profile page?  MySite being a site collection for the user, My Profile being a shared site collection with a profile page.

If you are referring to the profile page, keep the following in mind:
    • Profile data is initially imported from Active Directory.  This may be updated if a synchronization schedule was defined.  Users also have the ability to edit some elements.
    • The Person.aspx page is shared across all users meaning that any change you make for one person shows on every other profile as well.
    • The profile values are shown on the page using controls.  The Title, Dept, Location, and phone fields are individual fields.  You can rearrange the controls by editing the Person.aspx page.
    • The remaining fields are in one block, and can be managed by editing the profile groupings/layout in the Profile properties section of the SSP.

Hmm, it kind of looks like my sites use default.master from rest of the site as well.  Is this true?  If so, where are those dept, phone, and job title fields that are pulled from AD located?  Are they in an asp file?  Any suggestions?

    Hi Mike,
Is it possible to make amendments to person.aspx? How would you go for that? Is the source code somehow available? We want to make some quite substantial modifications, including substituting the free text field for department with a drop down field based on a list with all the departments, and including some custom code that copies the department of the manager to the subordinates. Would it be possible to include such stuff in person.aspx, or should we rather build it from scratch, making a complete substitution of person.aspx (maybe as a webpart)?
