問題Problem with IE

I have problems with several Web-sites (i.e. amazon.com). There is no content on the resulting Web-page, only Internet Explorer can't show the page. Netwoek diagnostics says there is no problem. Other Web-sites I can open without problems at all.

Have you tried resetting defaults on IE8 or tried IE7 Compatibility for those sites...

    IE7 Compatibility hasn't helped.
Settings in IE8 haven't been changed since installation.

Can't reproduce the problem. Does it persist? Is there any change if you got to other pages and then return?

    Hi,

Before moving on, I suggest resetting IE to test the problem.

    Reset Internet Explorer settings

    =============================

    1. Please open Internet Explorer, click "Tools", and click "Internet Options".

    2. In “General” tab, click “Delete”, and delete cookies on the computer.

    3. Switch to the "Advanced" tab.

    4. Refer to "Reset Internet Explorer Settings" section, and click "Reset".

    5. Click "Close" when the resetting process is complete.

    6. Click "Apply", click "OK".

    7. Close Internet Explorer.

    8. Open a new IE to test the problem.

    Hope it helps.

I echo Robinson, I've had wierd things happen with IE8 on W7 out of the blue and a reset fixes them. For example, my back button stops working occasionally... reset... fixed. I'm not changing any settings either.

I suspect a third party software/add-on changes IE settings cause the problem.

    It's a pity, but it doesn't help! :(
I have even reset all my personal settings. The result is the same.
Yes I had some add-ons earlier, but now they all gone.
    Can I do something else?

By the way, the IE8 in Vista (which resides on the same computer in another partition) opens amazon.com without any problem.
The Opera in Win7 opens the site without problems too...

I know one... try keeping CTRL pressed and use the scroll wheel to zoom in and then out or the Zoom feature from Page menu and an Escape afterwards if you still don't see anything... it will refocus the page and it should be visible again.

I'm sorry for my English. It seems I didn't explain well. Of course I see something in the IE8 window, but it is the standard message "Internet Explorer can't show the page"

Looks like some firewall is restricting acess to the site. Can you check if any firewall is installed on your server?

It could also be an issue with DNS resolution or a certain netowrk path from your ISP.  Can you ping the sites you cannot get to in IE by name?  You can also run a tracert to see if you are able to connect all the way to the site.  Also is the IP address that ping reports for the site the same as the IP address you see on a different computer (one that can access the site)?

Sorry for the delay. No, I don't think it's a firewall. I've already mentioned, the Opera browser on the same computer and on the same Windows 7 works with the site very well. The problem is only with IE.
As a personal firewall I use Avast. There is the corporate firewall too. I tried to shut off the Avast - it didn't help. The corporate firewall is out of the question (because Vista+IE8 and Win7+Opera work on the same IP).

nslookup resolves the name very well.
Pings to most of the big sites are restricted. Tracerts too. Big sites also has many IP addresses, which is selected round-robin...
ISP is out of the question too, because Opera browser works well with the sites.
