2011年9月13日 上午 09:22Hi allI am working on Hyper-V virtual machines with server2003r2 installed in. The host machine is server 2008r2. I had taken the snapshot (.avhd file) of each VM (.vhd file). Now the snapshot file of a VM is deleted manually (even from recycle bin) without remerging and i want to recover it to get the data back. Can anyone help me in reovering the deleted snapshot (.avhd) file from the host machine?? This will be very appreciated.Regards

Simple question, do you have backup software installed on Host machine?
Recovering a file from a disk, without backup software is usually extremely expensive and cannot be done with a garantee of success..

Hi,
I understand your current situation, however, this is a data recovery issue instead of a Hyper-V issue. You can try to use some data recovery tool or send your hard disk to some professional data recovery company if you do have important data need to be recovered.
Personally, I will recommend that you use Recuva, it’s a free tool. I used it recovered thousands of deleted pictures. You can also wait for other community to share about this.

2012年1月6日 下午 04:06I have similar situation. .avhd file was deleted as result of bug in merging procedure, anything that I founded, by using Recuva, was files, that was contained in .avhd, but not snapshot. It's looked like file fell apart, is it possible? If it is, what can I do for recover it?

I've encountered the same problem. However both my avhd and vhd file has gone missing and recuvva says the file is fully in tact, it's just 0 bytes in size. I ran the recuvva IMMEDIATELY after the poblem started. Something is clearly happening to the avhd files for random reasons in my situation.
