Unanswered autodiscover in ExRCA Failed.

    hi all, 

    i cannot seem to get the autodiscover service working correctly in our Exchange 2010 environment.  I was hopeing someone could help me track down the issue. Ill provide as much information as i can. 

    Our certificates have the names

    webmail.domain.com

    autodiscover.domain.com

    {cas server}.thedirectory.local

    legacy.domain.com

    Running the test-outlookwebservices on the CAS Server, the results are:

    For DNS Internally, i have the following records under my internal Domain name:

    autodiscover.thedirectory.local  -  CNAME - internal IP Address

    webmail.thedirectory.local  - A - Internal IP Address (same a s autodiscover)

    _autodiscover - SRV - pointing to webmail.thedirectory.local

    Under the domain.com DNS (niternal, running split DNS)

    autodiscover.domain.com- CNAME - webmail.domain.com

    webmail.domain.com- A - Internal IP Address (same a s autodiscover)

    _autodiscover - SRV - pointing to webmail.domain.com

    authentication is Anonymous, Basic, and Windows on the Autodiscover virtual directory.  I have even run through an resetup the autodiscover service..

     

    running  the below command i get these results

    Get-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -server mex1 | fl InternalURL, ExternalURL

    When we hit the pages, it just gives me a HTTP 500 error...  Does anyone have any clues?

    Hi Scott,

    Unfortunately HTTP 500 errors are quite difficult to troubleshoot since these errors don't really tell what the problem is. In some cases, if you are lucky enough, HTTP 500 disappears after a reboot or restart of IIS service. Please double check if Exchange related services are running properly (all services that are set to Automatic).

    I recommend you to check the Event Log if there are any errors that related to Internet Information Services or Exchange CAS related services and if you find any, please post it here so we may take a look at the problem.

    The erros you have posted are bing caused by incorrect configuration for AutoDiscovery service.you need to configure AutoDiscovery correctly here are some good read up for you Autodiscover, DNS, Certificates, and what you need to knowhttp://www.shudnow.net/2008/11/18/autodiscover-dns-certificates-and-what-you-need-to-know/
