    Hello,

I hope I choosed the correct forum to ask my question?

We actually migrate all users from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. Now I mentioned a new behaviour with expanding distribution lists. If I now want to expand a list with hidden members, the hidden member don't appaer. With Exchange 2003 there was no problem. Even the hidden members were listed. Is this a feature by design or can I change it back to the Exchange 2003 behaviour? Maybe a registry key? Or a PowerShell script?

    Thank you

    Oliver

I deal quite a lot with the contacts at my work place and I know that if I hide a user, it removes them from being visible in the Global Address book which in turn when the users download their Offline Address Book (OAB) the users are not listed.

I cannot see why they would be listed in a Distribution group if they as a user were hidden as that would seem not logical.

Reading up on it it would seem that in 2003 this was the case that you state that a hidden user was visible in a distro group but not visible in the GAL.

So it would seem that this is a feature by design. A hidden user is now hidden in all locations and I have to agree with that as that would seem more logical than the 2003 approach.

Also I don't from what I could find if there was a way to reverse this to a 2003 type approach but as this seems to be the logic behind 2010, I doubt there is a way to reverse that.

From the admin view Exchange 2010 now works as you expect it, but from user view, I have to change my whole concept building the groups.

And as you recognize, Exchange 2003 should have made a difference between hiding in the gal and the distribution lists. But I was not able to find a switch or key to set this behaviour.
