On Xp i would just right click mouse, arrange icons by, and then run desktop cleanup.

But its not available on Vista, well not where i can find it.

Sorry, bit of a Vista noob, only installed it last night.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the Desktop Cleanup tool has been removed in Vista. There is still a disk cleanup tool, but not desktop.

Ok, looks like im going to have to delete them all or hide the desktop, thats if i can still do it. That kinda sucks, i hate having icons on my desktop. I just stick with quick launch or use a dock or somesort.

    Cheers anyway

Are there specific icons you are trying to remove? Or is it just a bunch in general? You can still remove all of the "Windows" (Computer, etc) icons with Personalization in the Control Panel.

You could do what i've done - created a new folder called Unused Desktop Icons and moved unwanted icons to this folder!

    Hey,

I was just trying to do this myself. If you don't want any items,

    Right Click on desktop

    View

    Uncheck 'Show Desktop Items'

    This clears is competely.

    Hope that helps.
