Logitech quickcam zoom driver
I have a Logitech Quickcam zoom webcam and can't find a driver for it.
Vista RC1 only sees a unknown device and the light on the camera is on.

You'll have to wait until Logitech comes out with a driver that is compatible with Vista. Until then you are most likely out of luck.

Same Problem with Logitech 4000
USB, tried to install logitech driver, tried compatability mode. Software will not recognize driver.
Windows Vista x86 does not even have a camera driver option?
What gives?
I am afraid you are going to have to wait for logitech drivers
check out their forums:
http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board?board.id=quickcam_software
You will see there is a few threads for vista and x64 drivers all containing numerous cheesed off logitech webcam owners.
It would seem that logitech are in no hurry to get out their driver. Meanwhile i have got to keep reconnecting my old xp machine just to have daily video chats with the family.
Oh well...........
- I have a Logitech Quickcam Zoom and this is how I got it to work:
1. Install QuickCam 32-bit Version: 10.5.0 Build 1096b
It can be found here: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downloads/software/CA/EN,CRID=1794,contentid=10234
2. When you get to the camera detection part where it asks you to plug in your camera, plug it into a new usb port (if you had it plugged in when you installed Vista) and just press skip.
3. Windows may try and find the driver for it, you can cancel that too.
4. Install the old QuickCam software (Version: 8.4.8 build 1034A)and overwrite anything it asks you to (it will fail to install completely because of the new version, but it will put the files you need into the Logitech program files directory.
The old software is here: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downloads/software/CA/EN,CRID=1794,contentid=7649
5. Go to the windows orb (former start button), open control panel, go to system, then on the top left of the window click device manager.
6. Find the unknown usb device (hopefully you only have one... otherwise unplug anything else that doesn't work or you haven't updated the driver for yet)
7. Right click and select update driver, choose a location to find the driver, navigate your way to C:\Program Files\Logitech\QuickCamWebInstall\Drivers\WinNew\PRO2
8. Press OK or whatever, and let it install.
9. Enjoy!
Mine didn't even need to reboot and worked with the 10.5 QuickCapture software. Still need to test with Skype and Live Messenger though. - you are a fucking god.
It did work for me too, I'm under Vista Ultimate and using Quickcam zoom.
Thank you so much, I almost ordered another Webcam.
and I think this is the aim of Logitech by not updating their drivers to vista.
So I can confirm that the above instructions work 100% clear and I did test it with all program that require a webcam (MSN, Yahoo, Skype etc..) it's POSITIVE.
Keep Up The Good Work, and Let's share those info to everyone.
Thank you very very very much.
Works like a charm here.
Don't have to wait for logitech to give me the proper drivers.
Thanx.

- Hello i saw you post very nice but i could not make it work? Do you know if this tricks works if you have 64-bit Vista? Or do one know what else to do?
Azural,
You're the nuts mate. Ta much. Works perfect with Skype as well!
Saved me a few $$$ and avoided buying a new cam!
Cheers
thkx very much.
It works!!!
- hello all been trying to set up my quick cam zoom for weeks at last thanks to this i have but with a few modifications.
download both software updates qu848 xp update and qu1051 vista update now i know that qu1051 is for another camera but if install the xp once first then the vista once over the top ignore all errors will sort its self out after restart but it works and thats all i did nothing more.
good luck hope it works for some of you. HaredZombie wrote: Hello i saw you post very nice but i could not make it work? Do you know if this tricks works if you have 64-bit Vista? Or do one know what else to do? hee mate i have ultimet 64 bit aswell just go to
1Go to the windows orb (former start button), open control panel, go to system, then on the top left of the window click device manager.
2Find the unknown usb device your webcam ofcourse
3Right click and select update driver, choose a location to find the driver, now select below the search i want to do it myzelf (i have a dutch version so dont know the real name)
4 once you are in there u can sellect left factory and do logitech on the recht your type choose logitech quickcam pro 4000
5 enjoy the webcam
i know this because they are both about same hardware so take care and dont show to much stuff
- Brilliant stuff...many thanks..
- Worked like a charm, with one small difference. When I updated the drivers in control panel, instead of selecting the PRO2 folder, I had to let Windows search the entire Logitech folder. I love the option to include subfolders in driver searches. It makes things a helluva lot easier. Thanks again, you are the man!
- Hi guys,
Can somebody be kind to upload those two files mentioned by Azural in some place? Apparently Logitech has changed their website and now the file is not available anymore..or perhaps in a different link
Thanks, I really appreciate it

sorry, just found it here:
Logitech ftp- Finally the easiest instructions to install the Logitech QuickCam Zoom on Vista:
- Go to ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/quickcam/
- Get the qc828en.exe y qc1051en.exe files. Note that you may choose another language ( for example qc828esp.exe y qc1051esp.exe).
- Install both files (first the qc828). Myabe you've to restart.
- Connect the webcam. Windows will try to find the drivers.
- You'll have to select the drvier's path manually. Choose this folder: C:\Program Files\Logitech\QuickCamWebInstall\Drivers\WinNew\PRO2.
- Vista will install the drivers and your webcam should work now! - It works perfectly with the newest QuickCam v11.0 32bit too! Wonderful help mate, you are the greatest!!!

- Has anyone had this work with YIM!?
Although I get a preview on my side, the recipient side always gets a black box.
Yahoo help page states:
Some Logitech webcam drivers may cause one of the following problems:
- Windows freezes when accessing the webcam
- A black screen appears when using the webcam in Messenger
- A ‘Webcam not found’ error message appears.
- After 3 seconds, the sound drops out of calls made via Yahoo! Messenger
If you already verified that your device is compatible through the above steps and you’re a Logitech webcam user, please click here to update your Logitech webcam driver.
Also has anyone tried this with the v11 of the driver now available?
- Hello everyone,
Although I didn`t communicate with anyone directly, all of your imput & comments really helped me get my QuickCam 4000 running, I`m describing the difficulty I had in case anyone has the same. After the driver installed, no sound would come out of my speakers, almost like the install messed around with the codecs. No sound would occur, even from startup, WMP or anything else. After the install, I recorded a video, played it back in WMP & the problem fixed itself. - You're a good person Azural and you'll definitely go to heaven !! I have a Logitech Quickcam Zoom as well (white sphere with blue visor) which Logitech says "won't work with Vista". It worked fine on my old PC with WinXP and had zoom and motion detection, so was great for home security. I was prepared to buy a new camera for Vista, however, Logitech's current range appears to have been dumbed down and there's nothing with these features. So I followed your instructions to get it working on my new Vista PC:
1. Installed QuickCam 32-bit Version v10.5.1 for Quick Cam Pro 4000 downloaded from the Logitech website (nb: when you are in the webcam software downloads area of the Logitech website, you need to click on "Didn't Find Your Camera?" -- this will then take you to downloads for older models which are no longer in their current product range)
2. During installation, when it asked if I wanted to install the driver now, I replied "No, I will Install Later"
3. Then I went to Windows Device Manager to install the device driver manually - found the USB device marked "Unknown" - right clicked to Install Driver > I will locate the driver on my computer > Imaging Devices > Logitech > then scrolled down the list on the right and selected Quick Cam Pro 4000 (ignore the warning)
4. Voila - the Quickcam Zoom now works fine on Vista. Unfortunately, Ill0gitech's current quickcam software range has much less functionality than the old Image Studio that I had before (the new stuff seems to be designed only for kiddies with IM)
5. SO I purchased Blue Iris webcam software (for Vista) from Perspective Software - approx. $19 - this is designed for home security, and has full functionality including motion detection - you can record video and snapshots and set your own frame rate, resolution, sensitivity, etc.
6. Bingo !! Now my faithful old Quickcam Zoom is happily cruising along on Vista doing pretty much what it used to - no thanks to the marketing geniuses at illogiteck
7. NB: for both the Logitech Wecam application and Blue Iris, select "Launch at Startup" = NO
8. When you launch Blue Iris, the Logitech desktop shortcut thingie will pop up (just ignore it, or exit it)
9. You can launch either the Logitech Webcam application OR Blue Iris, however, if you launch Logitech Webcam first, then try to launch Blue Iris, Blue Iris may say "Camera not Connected" (because the Logitech Webcam application grabbed it first; however, you can run both applications simultaneously if you want, provided you launch Blue Iris first). - Oh my God! Something that FINALLY works! I've been trying to get my Quickcam Zoom installed on Vista for about 2 months now. I gave up several times then changed my mind & tried again with no luck whatsoever. Just last week I put the damn thing up for sale & went & bought a Lifecam VX-1000 two days ago. It's OK, but I liked the Logitech much better. Well I didn't end up selling it thank God & now that I have it up & running I'll be taking the new one back. You are a true lifesaver Azural. I should take my refund & buy you a nice present. LOL! Thanks so much. I love you man!
- I have windows vista 64 bit but can't find driver
It looks like they might have taken down the qc828en or qc828enu file. I'm running xp x64 and I suspect that this fix'll do the trick if I can get a hold of those files..I just had a thing in the logitech support forums, I'll be posting screen shots here in a bit as they deleted the postings.
The third screen was what happened when I tried to reply to the most recent post.

It's been brought to my attention that the 32 bit xp drivers .inf files can be decorated to work with xp x64 (and likely vista). There's a document that I'm going to be going from on that linked below, if anybody else is interested in taking a look. This just makes it even more retarded that logitech didn't do it themselves.
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/install/64INF_reqs.mspx
Thank you, this was VERY helpful!
You haven't done the file decoration or have any additional info do you? I haven't looked into it yet since my last post actually.
Were you able to produce some working drivers? I haven't done any work since my last post to be honest.
This trick doesn't work with XP x64 as 8.4.8 doesn't have an x64 version. Nethertheless I was able to install my Logitech QuickCam Zoom (USB pid 08b4) using the following method:
1. Download ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/quickcam/qc1051enu_x64.exe
2. Unpack Drivers dir using Rar or 7z
3. In file Drivers\x64\PRO64\lpro64v.inf replace all "08bd" with "08b4" or just add the corresponding lines
4. When asked to install drivers choose ...(advanced) and select Drivers\x64\PRO64\ to search for drivers
5. Select Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 and continue with installation.
This made my Logitech QuickCam Zoom to work in Skype perfectly.
I suppose you can install the Logitech QuickCam software after it. I just don't need it.
Also I suppose this will work with Vista x64 but I don't have one at hand to try out.
I have a question for you. I went to the wite on your step #1, but could not locate what you are talking about. The link doesn't take to straight to the version i am supposed to download, so how do i find it on Logitech's site?? Thanks for your help!I followed this method as advocated by Carbon Unit but without success. In Windows Device Manager I could find no reference to Imaging Devices or indeed to Quick Cam Pro 4000. A search of the computer reveals that this is not mentioned anywhere. The camera light comes on and when an attempt to operate it is made a message is displayed to the effect that the camera is not properly connected - unsurprisingly !
Has anyone else any other bright ideas ?
Great post, worked like a charm in msn messenger. I've had this cam in storage for about 1 year, go figure lol. Thanks for the post!
Please I am despereately in need of a drive for my webcam as the above message shows. I trust you and that is why i am appealling to you for this. Thanks for your continues help.
Ann
Did the trick for me!! Thanx very much!
(happy face)Thanks your a genius i was getting worried i would need a new camera seen as it is only 2 months old
thanks loads and it works on mine for messenger and skype
- hey I have this quickcam and am running a 32bit version of vista. I am trying to get the file mentioned earlier in this post - qc828en.exe
but can't find it on the logitech ftp. Can someone point me to this file or send me this? Thanks

Iceslice, thanks ever so much, works like a dream.
Been pulling my hair out trying to get it to work on x64
Out of desperation I downloaded and installed the qc848enu.exe file (in place of the qc828enu.exe file in the instructions above) from the logitec FTP site and everything seems to be working OK. I'm running Vista 32 bit.
Can you let me know when, so i can pay it!!!
This solution is great! I use Vista home premium 32 bit. I downloaded qc848nld.exe and the newest qc1150.exe. I installed the qc848, restarted my computer. Installed qc1150 and waited for the connect screen. As soon as you connect the webcam windows kicks in. Skip the connect screen from the logitech install and end the installation of the program. Then choose install driver from the windows screen and indicate that you want to search your drive for the driver. Go to the path Bajo en calorías mention and the driver installs without a problem.
My camera came up as a Quickcam Zoom as it should and works fine in all programs.
Thanks for the tip guys!
Greets, Chriz
- Just a note to anyone else with this problem:
If you have a Quickcam Zoom, use 08B3
... 08B4 only works with the silver models!
Here are the rest of the model codes:
08B0 ; Pro 3000 (Mono)
08B1 ; Notebooks Pro
08B2 ; Pro 4000
08B3 ; Zoom
08B4 ; Zoom (Silver)
08B5 ; PTZ (Orbit)
08BD ; Pro 4000

- So what to do when it wont let you install al lesser version of teh software?
I have been trying all that you posted, but no success
S - Many thanks - great solution. Had a problem finding Quickcam 32bit version but used QUICKCAM CHAT - 32 bit Vista driver 11.5. Worked a treat. Had to reboot to use the Quickcam adjustments eg volume, brightness etc.
Thanks again I copied the http......... and yahoo couldn't find this location. I have a webcam with windows vista

I've completed these steps and it "almost" works (on Vista64) but no luck! Any help would be appreciated. Did anyone get this to work on Vista 64bit? It appears people got it working on 32bit but not 64bit Vista.
I get as far as picking the QuickCam 4000 from the list but then it says "Driver is not intended for this platform."
Is there something else I need to change? I have the QuickCam Zoom (not silver). Thanks in advance.
Here's the first part of the file for which I changed all 08BD references to 08B4

I wonder how they know to do that freakin amazing!! - Wow thank you so much for your post Azural. Worked like a charm. I cant believe how sleazy Logitech is when it comes to cams. I paid 90 dollars for a webcam and buy alot of things from them. But to purposly hide info on how to keep your cam they lie and say its no way. Power of the internet rules.
