Hi Robin,
Since 3rd party Add-ons may cause this kind of unexpected error, let's try to start Internet Explorer (IE) with no Add-ons. To do so, please click the Start Button, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
Please check if the issue persists.
If the issue does not reoccur, it may be caused by an IE Add-on. In that case, let’s continue to perform the following steps to narrow down the cause.
Check Internet Explorer Add-Ons
=========================
1. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
2. Click the "Programs" tab, and then click Manage Add-ons.
3. Select an add-on in the Name list, and then click Disable.
4. Please restart IE with Add-ons and check the issue again.
If the issue is resolved, the disabled Add-on was the cause of the issue.
If the issue reoccurs, let’s continue to disable the next Add-on using the same method.
By doing so, we can determine which Add-on contributed to the issue. However, if the issue still persists in IE non Add-ons mode, please let me know if you can simply print from Notepad text files.
We may need to remove the previous printer driver and reinstall the latest printer drivers from the manufacture.
Hope this helps.
- I tried various fixes around the internet including that "regsvr32 ole32.dll" fix (which gave me the same error as above) and nothing seemed to work.
I decided to remove all third-party addons from the client's computer which is VERY easy to do in IE7 from the advanced settings. Unfortunately that didn't seem to solve the problem either.
I went into the settings once again and turned "Protected mode" off. I know that some might find this solution dangerous to security, but IT FIXED THE PROBLEM.
In total I've only seen this problem twice.. both times were with Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7. Both times, turning protected mode off fixed the problem for me.
-Chad Allard Hi Chad,
Thank you for your valuble sharing. The "Protected mode" is indeed a unique feature of Windows Vista that is related to UAC.
I believe this information will be much helpful for others who have similar issues in the future.
Thanks again and have a nice day.

Hello Robbin,
I have the same script error message but only when I try to print from windows mail and then it locks up the mail program. When I try to reset IE with the bat file you show above I get an error that I need to be the Administrator to create the file in this location even though I am the administrator?
- Robbin – I have been reading the TechNet forums and you have written about problems that are close to mine. I’m hoping you have a simple solution for me.
Windows XP
Office 2003 with Word 2003/Outlook 2003.
When I try to compose an email in Outlook with Word as my editor (HTML), I get "Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook. The Outlook e-mail editor will be used instead. An OLE registration error has occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run setup again for the program."
When I remove Word as the editor, in favor of using Outlook, I get “One or more Active X control could not be displayed because either: 1) your current security settings prohibit running Active X control on this page; or 2) you have blocked a publisher of one of these controls. As a result, the page may not display correctly.”
I have seen you and others recommend re-populating the registry with the ole32.dll. However, when I run the command: “regsvr32 %WINDIR%\system32\ole32.dll”, I get: “DllRegisterServer in C:\Windows\system32\ole32.dll failed. Return code was: 0xc0000005”.
I’m fairly certain from the forums that if I can get ole32.dll re-populated in the registry that my Outlook / Word problem will be fixed. Can you help me figure out why the ole32.dll will not re-register??
Thanks!!
Platty Hi Platty,
Please run command prompt as administrator to perform the "regsvr32 ole32.dll" command. To "run command prompt as administrator", right click on Command Prompt icon and select "Run as administrator" and then perform "regsvr32 ole32.dll" or regsvr32 %WINDIR%\system32\ole32.dll
If the issue still persists, I believe the issue is due to the ole32.dll file itself since there might be any problem with your Office 2003 components and you may need to reinstall Office 2003.
If you have further concern, as this forum is for Windows Vista related issues. For problems with Office 2003 please check the resources available at:

Robbin - still getting the failed to regsiter error. I'm not able to follow your instructions entirely. I don't use any User Account entitled "Administrator." Or at least none shows up when Windows starts. So when I go to run the C: as "Administrator," I have no working password and it does not let me run is as the Administrator. I am forced to use a sub-account that has administrator authority, but it's not the "Administrator." Could that be the access error?
- The Administrator account is typically hidden from the Welcome Screen. Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL twice quickly and you should get the traditional log-on prompt where you can explicitly enter username, password and domain.
Hi Platty,
Please check if the built-in Administrator is disabled. If so, please use the current user account(which should also has admin privilege) to enable the built-in Administrator.
To do so, right click on "My Computer" and select "Manage" and then open "Computer Management" window and locate to "Local Users and Groups", then click the Properties of Administrator and enable this account. More information, please refer to the following article:

Hi,
The "Command Prompt icon" I refer to is under: Start -> All Programs -> Accessories, then you can find that "Command Prompt" icon.
By the way, as the new issue you mentioned is different from the one discussed in this current thread, we'd recommend that you start up a new thread for it. We generally focus on one topic in one thread because in this way it will be better for other community members to participate in the discussion, and to search/find specific answers more efficiently in the future. Thanks for your understanding.

- Hi Robin,
I am experiencing the same script errors as mentioned in these posts. I have tried all your suggestions and then some from other internet searches. Although I haven't found a solution, I believe I have narrowed it down, however I do not know how to fix it.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and IE 7.1
These are my findings:
1. When I try to print from IE7.1 I get the script error box
2. When printing from other applications it prints fine
3. I downloaded and installed Firefox and tried to print .. it prints fine
4. I logged off and logged back on as Administrator and tried to print from IE7.1 and it works!
5. I logged off and logged back on as a different user than what I normally do and printing from IE7.1 works too.
6. I logged back on as my normal user and right clicked IE7.1 to run as administrator .. this also allowed me to print fine.
7. I exited IE as administrator and re-opened it without "run as administrator" and it does not print
8. I found other tasks that I was able to perform earlier also would not work and return the same kind of script errors. Running them as administrator works but as mentioned they ran fine before without administrator priviledges.
I suspect that something within the USER preferences or settings somewhere has changed which makes printing from IE and the running of some other tasks impossible without administrator priviledges. Instead of returning a prompt to run as administrator it returns the script error dialog box.
By finding where this change occurred, I believe will be the answer to this and many other similar script errors .. they all seem to have the same symptoms.
I look forward to your reply,
thanks. Hi,
Although the symptom is similar, the issue you mentioned is different from the one discussed in this current thread (which is a pure IE issue), and your issue is more likely a USER profile issue. We'd recommend that you start up a new thread for it. We generally focus on one topic in one thread because in this way it will be better for other community members to participate in the discussion, and to search/find specific answers more efficiently in the future. Thanks for your understanding.
For your reference, you may try to create another user account with admin privilege to test if the same issue remains with the newly created user account which has admin privilege. If it not remains, transfer the old user’s profile files to the new one and then delete the old corrupted user account.
Regards.
Dear freinds,
I was unable to print from Microssoft Outlook 2003, after a lot of search in google i was able to find the answer for the above query.
Go to start ---- press Run ---- type : regsvr32 ole32.dll
and then press enter you will get a message DllRegisterServer in ole32.dll succedded.
Press Ok
and job done.
Hope this sorts out most of the folks problem.
Dear Samnani R:
I had a similar problem with my Outlook 2000 and I followed you suggestion and it worked. Thank you very much.
This error has been bothering me for months now.
Thanks
Andy
Thanks to the fix in this thread I got rid of a very bothersome issue.. Sales people complaing about this issue!
Thanks!
I have tried all fixes mentioned above, removed all add-ons etc, but still problem persists.
How do I turn protected mode off??
Thanks for your help in advance

Hi Robin,
This is a problem that I also had in windows vista ultimate, however I have found a way to fix it and it has worked for a couple of people. The problem is in the windows user profile. You will actually have to create anothe user account on the computer and name it what you want. Insure that all of you document are saved on a separate partition so that you don't loose any of your data. Delete the old user account and remap all of the folder with your information to the new user account once you have log into it. I would suggest that you log into the new accout and remap all the folder for my document by right clicking on them and going to location first before deleting to old account to ensure you can access all of you old account documents. This worked for me several time and I just had to do it again today after yet another update by microsoft. This is the only solution that I've found that worked I am an IT professional and it was even difficult for me to figure this one out.
