OK, am I seeing this correctly? SP3 build 5503?
System properties does not show a build number after the SP3 indicator.
Also, IE6 still crashes and the error report also lists as 5503

Ah, "y.a.b." is a user name. LOL, I though for sure it was some sort of jargon. Negative, I am not user "y.a.b." I never got into torrent things. Seems rather dangerous to me, not to mention I don't like the idea of throwing myself to the dogs of P2P. At best, I hit the newsgroups once a week and from time to time, a friends FTP server. I spend most of my online time scouring forums and gaming.

    No apologies are necessary.

Mt.Dew (or should I call you "y.a.b."? <eg>), from whichever dubious source you've downloaded that build, it hasn't been released nor intended to be released by Microsoft. You don't expect any support for that build or any confimations by MS, do you?

    Bye,

First, call me Mt.Dew. Second, what does "y.a.b." mean? I do hope it is not some form of insult from where you are or some internet jargon meant to be an insult. Third, I did not download that build from a "dubious source", nor did I download it at all from anywhere. Both were on a CD that was given to me by the instructor of the computer sciences course at my local college. "You have been testing the Windows XP SP3, correct?" "Yes, I have been." "Try this build out" "OK, I will try it out when I get home."
    And here we are now.

LOL, so you aren't user "y.a.b." commenting and "releasing" updates over at a "special" torrent node beeing known for -ehm- releasing software from questionable sources?

Third, I did not download that build from a "dubious source", nor did I download it at all from anywhere.

My apologies to you, I just have been fooled on the concurrence of your posting here and the comment of "y.a.b." over the questionable source who wrote today: "OK, fully installed. System properties says SP3. It did not list a build version, like prior SP3 beta's. IE6 still crashes, but error says it is ie6 6.0.2900.5503. So far it looks like it is legit, but those build numbers really seem high. I will seek word from the SP3 developers.".

Anyhow, build 5503 or the like hasn't been released by MS, at least not yet.

    Sh^H^HConcurrence happens,
