Hi,
sometimes when user starts Office on a Citrix XenApp Server the Product is reconfigured by Windows Installer (EventID 1035). It takes approx 30sec and the user can work. Its sometimes and not reproduceable.
I notices, everytime before it comes to this reconfiguration theres a Eventlog Warning:
Log Name: Application
Source: Office Software Protection Platform Service
Date: 18.07.2012 07:29:10
Event ID: 1056
Task Category: None
Level: Warning
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: server1
Description:
Some data has been reset. 0xC004D301 [1].Log Name: Application
Source: Office Software Protection Platform Service
Date: 18.07.2012 07:29:10
Event ID: 1022
Task Category: None
Level: Warning
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: server1
Description:
The system has been tampered. 0xC004D301Then the windows installer reconfigures the product. Normally, when this Office Software Protection Platform Service Procedure works fine, from the EventLog ID 1003 it should follow:
Log Name: Application
Source: Office Software Protection Platform Service
Date: 17.07.2012 08:33:39
Event ID: 12288
Task Category: None
Level: Information
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: server1
Description:
The client has sent an activation request to the key management service machine.
Info:
0x00000000, 0x00000000, kmserver:1688, 4b10bc26-e852-48e9-bcb0-87e1367ff6bf, 2012/07/17 06:33, 0, 1, 46438, 6f327760-8c5c-417c-9b61-836a98287e0c, 5But i think, sometimes, not always, this fails. Instead the EventID Warning 1056 comes up followed by a Windows Installer Reconfiguration of Office for the user.
Any ideas?
cheers,
- Marco

Hi Marco,
Thank you for contacting Microsoft Forum Support.
What is most likely happening when you see the error for the OSPP service in event viewer is that the service could not start to verify the license and thus is showing that Office has been tampered with. Being that the OSPP service could not start and verify the license, Office repairs itself.
When setting up Office 2010 and XenApp, did you follow the steps here? Specifically the step, Installing the Microsoft Office 2010 Deployment Tool Kit?
http://support.citrix.com/servlet/KbServlet/download/23167-102-684384/Office2010-Streaming.pdfCan you confirm if the Office Software Protection Platform is set to Manuel or Automatic in Services.msc on the machine reporting the issue?
If it is set to Manual, please set it to Automatic to see if this gets around the issue.
We have seen that if the steps listed in Citrix’s documentation are not followed exactly, issues like you are seeing may occur.
The issue could also be possible that something 3rd party is causing the OSPP service to not start or it’s a timing issue.Additional:
1. Can you reproduce the issue?
2. Does the issue occur upon first launch of any Office 2010 program after a reboot of the server?
3. Does this affect all users including both admin and non-admin users?Regards,
Andy Fellows
