Remove [Compatibility Mode]: New Documents

Hello!
I have a problem when opening Microsoft Office 2010. Every time I do so, a [Compatibility Mode] appears on the title bar above. I really want to know how to remove it and I did saw one forum here. The problem is, I don't know where to search the normal.dotm files that they keep on saying that I should change to another template format.
Now, I did update all of the remaining old versions of the document format to Word Document, which I presume is the document file format for MS 2010. I deleted all of those old versions, but the [Compatibility Mode] is still there every time I open a new document. What is the problem here? I am not a techy person when it comes to these matters, so I hope someone can elaborately explain it to me.

maybe you have your system set to "Save-As-Type=Word97-2003"?
